The first thing I’m going to teach you is how to play the most common chords on both electric and acoustic guitars.
These chords all include open strings so they’re called open chords. First I’m going to say a few words about holding the guitar. Now there are a couple of different standard positions the guitar players use. Classical guitars generally play with guitars resting on the left leg and slightly elevated. Imagine this is a classical guitar. This puts both hands into a relaxed position with comfortable access along the entire neck.
