Hi! My name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com. I am a professional guitar instructor and today we will be discussing slide guitar and slide guitar techniques.
Okay, another thing I would like to do a lot when playing a slide guitar is do drop tunings here, what I have done is, I tuned the low E string of this guitar down to a D note and the high E string also down to a D note. Okay. The other strings the As, the Ds, the Gs and Bs have stayed the same. This way I am able to achieve a little bit more um… a little… a few more than notes. The E note really does not fit into the G, the key of G very well, um… so instead I have compensated by using the D notes instead of those strings.
This allows me to use all six of the strings in a vertical pattern when playing in the key of the G, like a G blues key. Um… basically… it allows me to utilize all six strings of the guitar. I know that I am using a … a B natural string here and I am using that note but I am also using the B flat, I am using a B flat note.
