Welcome to Lets Rock, first thing we do is ‘mute the strings’. Mute the strings? Why mute the strings when playing the single node? But muting the strings is indeed very important.

Because, if you don’t mute the strings it will sound like this. Feel pack all over the place. Well, this is how the guitar behaves, the electric guitar. Its loud and it produces feedback what can you do? Mute the strings with both left and the right hand. The fingers of the left hand have to be place where the flat on the string. Doing this you temp to strings that tune higher than the one you player.

If you wish you can bent the thumb over the neck and mute the low E string. By doing this you can mute the string and not create feedback. This is how you control muting using the right hand. The left side of thumb mutes the strings that are tuned lower than the node you wanna play.

Assuming, that we playing on D string, the thumb rests on the low in A strings to mute them. It’s not done with the heel of the hand that would produce a different sound. For damping you use the left side of the thumb, so that the node you want to play can ring freely. I’m gonna play variety of nodes so you can see.

I’m gonna to show you string muting and acting. And Mark, over there, he will come and try to spoil my playing by hitting all the six at my strings but he wont succeed as you can see.

In case you didn’t see the video in part 1 of this series… here it is again.
