So what we’re gonna be doing today is learn a 251 lick in the key of C and the code for 251 in the key of C are D minor 7, G7 and C major 7.
Okay, so I’ll play the lick for you at tempo 1,2. A 1,2,3,4. Okay. That’s it. I’ll play for you one more time. 1,2,1,2,3,4. Okay. Uuh, I’ll play it slower okay. 1,2,1,2,3,4. Okay. So there it is. Now what am I doing over this cord progression. Uuuh, harmonically and rhythmitecally. Well, over the D minor, I’m just playing D minor 7. I’ll page you. Okay. Aaah, over the G7, just playing a substitution to the G7 which is A flaged diminished. Okay. It’s an A5 diminished I’ll page you. Low chromatic, leading to G which is the fifth, uuh, C major 7. To the fifth of C major 7. And that’s, another little chromatic imbalance in to the E which is, aaah , the 3rd . 3rd of the C major 7. Okay. Soooooo. Okay.
So that’s just a little bluzy ending, aah, that I often like to add to my 251 licks at the end. Okay. So, there’s a 251 in the key of C.
Sooo, go ahead and practice that, work, work hard on it and take your time with it though and uuum, and I’ll see you next time.
