You will easily understand Legato techniques by watching this video.

Hello, I am Shane Roberts and I am coming to you from world famous rock band guitars. I am gonna talk about the Legato techniques today. The word Legato means long, so if we see a Legato note well it’s to be held to long or even longer then it’s actually written, to read the music. Amm within the region slightly known. So if we place degato which means short, there is an example of degato .The long tune will be , so you can hear they were moving from one note to the next with the least amount of silence that we can give. We really wants to hear the notes move into each other.

So, here are some points about the Legato techniques, in order to make the note ring as long as possible you guys all have to do is hold it down. So before I move to save my B note here I am gonna hold that tone, as long as possible. Now where we get into having issues with Legato, not necessarily on one string but in crossing strings.

We tend to release sometimes before we want in order to get the desired effect of Legato so as an example well that could be. So, its not really from the C sharp to the D note, there is a little bit of silence in there. So, if I hold that tone now that’s Legato. So what we are gonna do is place some Legato technique. Now one of things that happens to create an effect of kind of destroying Legato is to actually pick. Picking starts to sounds Legato just by the progressive nature.
So, the first example I am going to minimize my right hand picking a lot and I am also going to soften my picking.

So that, I am not really attacking the string very hard. Most of the attack is gonna come from by left hand finger. Therefore, you can see that about eighty-five ninety percent that works was really just Legato point. And at the end of this most of because I am feeling at the movement and want to put that in that. But think about what it means to move across the fret board and like every note bringing into next note. Okay let me show you little bit of slow motion what that will look like. Okay so that last clean example was very slow, and you hear the tones moving.

Now pick tags were little harder now then they would sound with some little distortion. So if I play that same idea the stored it now you know pick a tag goes away a little bit and we get this really smooth Legato Line.

So, the another technique we’ll talk about is actually skipping strings when Legato is playing. And like it’s little more complicated because it’s just not a Jason movement and we have a wider unable way to stretch. Okay so that’s all for first lesson in Legato play and this thing hold the tone until the next tone is actually ringing, that’s the secret and it is very fine motion where you can develop overtime. And, practice without the lays without any other sort of special effects and do this to sit around with your guitar.
